KUNDAM MA FATTY Village Regenerative Farming in Gambia
In 2021 Saikouba (Frank) and Julian met in Barcelona on the beach. He came to Europe to support his family and entire village. Frank came with a dream and is courageously following it every day and moment of his Life. He became a brother to us and our family and we are now working together to make his dream come true and take steps towards unity, justice and regenerative wellbeing.
The idea of co-creating a regenerative Fruit and Vegetable Farm to support the wellbeing of his people. Development through youth empowerment, collaboration and co-creative education.
Saikou is one of the most honest, respectful and loyal people I have ever met in my life. He’s an inspiration and highly respected brother as he’s relentlessly following his higher purpose despite all the difficulties he’s facing. Being from a large family in the village of Kundam in the Upper River Region in Gambia, he came with the intention to support the development of his village - just as his father back in the days and many brothers of him too. To build up a farm, where the youth could work, get paid and sell the crops. To foster education and medical support and empower people to co-create a just and healthy future. His younger brother Sambala, whom we’re supporting in studying at Gambia’s only university, is also managing family and village affairs alongside their truthful and loving father Sobeh. Samba is one of the youth-leaders of the village. They meet and discuss regularly on how to ramp up projects and work towards the wellbeing of all.
First Phase
To make the dream come true for the entire village, a stable fresh-water supply has to be installed. In order to hydrate themselves, their animals and their land, the villagers need to walk far distances to the next water fountain as their old well has dried out just recently. Therefore, the first step towards the regenerative farm and flourishing village is the installation of a new, proper water borehole and fountain. This fountain will have a 2000 liter tank mounted on a small tower with solar panels, to pump water and always have it fresh and clean - with pressure out of the hose to satisfy all the needs. The price for such an installation in euro is around 4500,-. Considering that the minimum wage in Gambia is below one dollar per day, this amount is very difficult to come up with, especially because the people in the village live from agriculture and there is little to none accessible infrastructure or resources to change this.
Therefore we are sharing our story here. The story of brothers and sisters with a dream and the intention to grow and regenerate together. Maybe you are willing and able to help out and donate to this project. The entire family and village gives Thanks and Praise.
Please do so by using PayPal friends and the e-mail address at the bottom of the page.
The moment Frank’s residence permit in Spain is prolonged and the first phase of the project is financed, him and Julian may travel to Gambia to help build the fountain and visit the family. From there on the collaboration can then slowly but steadily approach the next steps.
If you are interested in supporting this cause beyond a donation, being that you are member of a development foundation or organization, or wanting to contribute with hands-on working and learning experience - please get in touch with us to speak about common intentions and visions.
